Does such a person exist? Huntington/Northport area
I need a backup babysitter for the days that Cailen can't go to daycare if he is sick, his daycare is closed for the holidays, etc...
The thing is, besides being excellent and trustowrthy, I need a person who literally would have nothing else to do but be available at the last minute to watch Cailen - like a substitute teacher who gets the "call" at 6 in the morning... Obviously I can't always anticipate Cailen being sick, and I'm lucky today that I could pull off an office day at hme, but I go to a lot of schools and meet with parents - for example, tomorrow I need to get to a school, and will be in deep doo doo if I can't get there. My grandma - God bless her - at 83, offered to come over and watch him, but I'd hate to do that to her....
So, if this miracle person exists, and is near the huntington/Northport area, please let me know!!!

Did you check your local hospitals? Both of the ones near us offer sick care for kids who are too ill for day care. They have nurses on staff to care for them. It runs from 4-6 an hour. Its a Godsend when your baby isn't feeling well enough for daycare and you really need to go to work.

They do exist.
I think someone should start a "Grandmother's on call" where there is a pool of parents/grandparents that you can call up or a "sick daycare" business.
The problem is that you need someone inexpensive. My mom watches a teacher's baby & gets $15/hour. Daycare is SIGNIFICANTLY less money. Also our area has a lot of SAHMs that are off doing their own thing. The last thing they want is a sick kid.
I'm thinking of getting involved in the PTA to try to get a group of moms together to set up play dates on school holidays.

I'm off tomorrow because Joseph has kindergarten for only an hour. The only problem is I had a possible photoshooot & haven't heard back from the person.
Otherwise you could have him here all day.
