does the age of your house affect your taxes?
NYC just sent me a property assessment (and wow is it wayyyy down!!). I've noticed for the past few years that they have our house listed as being built in 1950.....it was actually built in 1933. If a house is older does that mean the property taxes would be lower? Should I attempt to correct this with the DOB?
The only reason I could think they could possibly have 1950 is that the previous owner made some slight alterations to the house (enclosed a front porch)....so perhaps they use the last date that changes were made to the property? does anyone have experience with this?
