Re: Does this price sound right?

From the "better" bakeries in my area, it does. They are getting you for the mousse filling. Although, I usually end up spending the same amount of money, what I've started to do is order an inexpensive cake from costco, and then buy a few pounds of mini pastry and cookies from the bakery. Everyone seems to enjoy the variety.

Re: Does this price sound right?

That seems expensive. I get a whole sheet cake for $65-70 at my bakery.

Sounds pricey to me.

I get a 1/2 sheet for $35-50 bucks from supermarket, depending on what i want.

Chat Icon You're too funny....

It actually is just a square shape, with writing, mousse filling and buttercream frosting. No delivery charge included in that either. It will be made fresh that morning too, which I like.

I thought it was expensive but it's a bakery we have used for years and it's right across the street from the restaurant where we are having DD's christening.

Is it worth it? Chat Icon

If there is nothing super fancy about it, to me, it sounds like its a little pricey. Being made fresh that morning is a plus, and the fact that its right across the street from the christening is nice too.

Re: Does this price sound right?

That sounds REALLY high! I got a whole sheet cake with the same from a real baker and it was about $50.00.

Also I get 1/2 sheet cake with a filling and whipped topping for about $25.00-$30.00 at Super Target. And all I can say is that it is delicious and we get lots of comments on it! Chat Icon

that seems really high to me, but the convenience of having the bakery right by the restaurant might be worth it. it's up to you.

That's the same amount of people we had. We got a Costco cake (I recommend the cheesecake filling!), had some cookies and fruit and there was SOOOO much leftover. (We also had a chocolate fountain because it was a wedding gift and we figured we better use it at some point.)

BTW: We think the Costco cakes are much better than BJs!!! We were members of BJs and still ordered Costco cakes under our MIL's account.

I know a half sheet cake is what Costco has (again, what we always have for 50-60 people with plenty to spare.) and it's under $20 and sooo tasty!
