Re: does walking really bring on labor?
I think it helps things along if you are already close to labor, but I dont think it will bring it on if the baby isnt ready....

Re: does walking really bring on labor?
As Liza said, I don't think it brings on labor if the baby is not ready to come out.
However, I was due April 3rd. My water broke on March 16th and I was not dilated at all. I was put on cervadil and from there my husband and I walked for 3 hours in the hospital to help bring on labor.
I was dilated 6cm by the next morning so once you go into labor, DO NOT sit in bed, walk around. It definitely was the key to me having a natural birth as opposed to a C-Section.

I think you should drive, maybe in two more weeks or so you can do that.

Re: does walking really bring on labor?
I walked a lot during my last month and did a lot of stairs and DD was low starting at 36 weeks. She wasn't ready to come out though so it didn't help bring on labor. I think it did help me efface and dilate. Each week, I was a bit more.

It didn't work for me...I tried to walk all the time - to the point that I started crying b/c I didn't think I would make it home. I was still late late late

Re: does walking really bring on labor?
I walked all the time my last pregnancy and although it didn't bring on labor, I think it helped with effacement and dialation.

totally true. i read this article last night, should've bookmarked it, that listed all the tips to "induce" labor naturally...after EACH tip it said: this will only work if your body/baby was ready to come out anyway. in other words, none of it works unless you are about to go into labor in the first place.
