does your child eat the same amt at every feeding?

hannah varies. sometimes she will take a 4 oz bottle and sometimes she will only eat 2! it drives me crazy b/c i know that if she would take a full bottle at night she would sleep better. but sometimes she only takes a little and then refuses to eat the rest. last night she drank 5 oz at 830p and slept from 930p-1:30am! but tonite she only took 2 oz at 1030. just curious how everyone else's child eats!

almost 11 months old and not one feeding/meal has ever been the same. It's very frustrating, especially in the beginning when everyone is on your case about how much you baby "should" be gaining.

In the beginning no. DS would eat anywhere between 2 & 5oz a feeding and that was for the first 3 months. I use to keep a journal of what time he ate and how much he ate that way I knew how much he was eating. I started this at 6 weeks. Once he hit 3 months I tired putting him on a schedule and it worked. Now at 4 months he eats every 3 hours( usually 6am ,9am, 12pm, 3pm and 6/6:30pm) and has 6 oz at a time.

Mostly he does but sometimes he leaves an ounce or two. He currently takes 6 oz per feeding so any less than 5 oz, I know hes going to be hungry sooner than usual.

DD is 12 weeks tomorrow and she will take 5oz at every feeding...sometimes 6oz. She will generally eat the same at every feeding.

How is Hannah doing on the Elecare???? How is she feeling???

I have found that with "colicky" babies feedings vary more. They cry and then when they eat the bottle puts them to sleep. Only now at 8 months is Jack more "consistent".

Also, it is a myth that babies who eat more are more likely to sleep longer. I am thinking of you and Jo and hope that you both get some much needed rest very soon!!!!!

DD usually eats the same amount at every feeding. Or rather, she usually eats whatever I give her. I often vary how much I give her based on how I want her daily schedule to go. I know that 4oz holds her for 3 hours while 5-6oz hold her for 4 hours. I had been giving her 6oz when she woke up and before bedtime and then the other feedings I would figure out how many hours I had to get through, based on what time she had that first bottle to get her to the proper bedtime (around 9pm). I also just DEcreased her big feedings from 6oz to 5oz because she was spitting up too much. I think I was overfilling her little belly so I'd rather give her a bit less.

I know it sounds confusing, but doing it this way she pretty much stopped needing to eat during the night and usually (75% of the time) sleeps through the night.

Very occasionally, she will not finish one of the 5-6oz bottles. When she starts falling asleep during it, I really try to get her to finish it. I don't really think that she "sleeps longer" when she eats more, I just think that when she doesn't eat enough, she wakes up from hunger rather than from being fully rested.

She is still varying the amounts and we have yet to really find a pattern.

Sometimes she will go hours and one would think she will take down a larger amount and she doesn't. Then there are times where she just finished a nice amount and still wants more.go figure???

It certainly is a trip.

Anyway after having such a crazy saturday where she was literally a mess, yesterday was lovely.
She was pleasant all day and we took her to Port Jeff and just had a beautiful family day.

It was great.

The night was another story but such is life I guess.

DD never eats the same amount. Her last bottle she took 2 oz, the one before she took 6oz! Its normal!

DD is 9 weeks old and is doing the same as yours. She usually eats 3-5 oz bottles during the day and 2 oz bottles for her night feedings. I feel the same as you. I wish she would eat more and sleep longer at night. I guess we just have to give it time and look forward to them sleeping through the night like the others we've been reading about.

my daughter takes 4 oz formula every 4 hrs but then we give her 5 oz at her last feeding of the night.
