With all this talk about holiday parties and gifts and bonuses, I was wondering how many of you really feel like your work place takes care of the employees. I just think that if everywhere did that, people would be so much better off. I don't know why companies haven't figured that out yet!
That being said, my school takes care of its teachers about 80%. On the one hand, I have toxic mold growing in my classroom and no one cares, on the other hand, if I so much as feel a tiny bit sick, I'm told to take the rest of the day to myself. We have unlimited sick time, we get holiday bonuses, free breakfast every Wednesday, free pizza on Fridays, end of the year bonuses, an end of the year luncheon that is out of this world, etc. However, we put up with a lot throughout the school year. A LOT. But if forced to pick one, yes, my job takes care of its employees.
what school district do you work for??

We get a small bonus (mine is usually about $100 or so) and SOMETIMES we have a luncheon.
Last year the owners bought a cold cut tray from Waldbaums and threw it on the table in the kitchen. This year, we're taking 2 hours on a Wednesday afternoon and going to a chinese restaurant. We're ordering a few dishes family style, then sharing. OH, and they're making each of us bring a dessert to share.

I don't work for a district, I work in a private school. After working in private schools for the last 4 years, I don't think I could work in a public school. Is it less money? Yes, but they really look out for you.

Re: Does your job take care of its employees?
I can't speak for the other departments in the company- they run independently of eachother. Some of the other bosses are awful.
I'm generally happy with the way my dept "takes care" of me. There are pretty flexible when it comes to Dr apts and stuff like that, and there are a lot of perks.
My current boss (who is great) is retiring in July and I am a little nervous about how it will be with the new one, who i already can't stand.

Not really. I work for a family owned & operated company so all the owners have only worked for themselves and family so they do not understand morale or motivating employess.
