does your Obgyn need to refer you to an RE?
i dont feel comfortable asking him, i am currrently in my 3rd month of clomid and not being monitored. i ovulated the last 2 months on it and this month got my period on my own (without provera) and starting opk's tomorrow. this last visit he gave me a 3 month refill for both rx's. my concern after searching this board is most ladies are being monitored by the RE or Obgyn while on clomid and I'm not.

I didn't get the recommendation for my RE by my OB. I used these boards & friends recommendations.
Definately get to see someone that is going to monitor you properly on Clomid

Re: does your Obgyn need to refer you to an RE?
I was on Clomid and was monitored by my RE NOT my ObGyn...I think Clomid is being dispensed a little to often these days and proper monitoring is not being done. You really have to be monitored when taking it and there is a limit to how many cycles it can be taken.
I wish I had not waited until I had talked to my ObGYn about an RE...I didn't need to because with my insurance I didn't need a referral...check your insurance

Only if your insurance requires you to get a referral.

Re: does your Obgyn need to refer you to an RE?
It depends on your insurance...Ironically with mine at the time, my general practitioner had to write the referral, not even my GYN...IMO, definately go to an RE- I unfortunately was improperly monitored for 7 months while on Clomid with my Gyn...only to end up having to see an RE anyway ( who got me pg ) Because of my own personla experience with it, I feel very strongly about it ...Good luck

Re: does your Obgyn need to refer you to an RE?
I went to a RE without a referral from my OB. In fact, I didn't even tell my OB that I was going. If I had listened to her, she would have made me wait a full year to TTC. If you are on Clomid, you should be seeing a RE. JMO!

Good luck to you. It took about 2.5 weeks for me to get my 1st appt.
