Does your OR did your newborn have a chronically stuffy nose?!
thanks! my DS is 6 wks old and constantly sounds nasally congested-especially at night. anyone experience this? is it normal? could it be reflux related? sounds like he's snorting. very frustrated as it seems he can't breathe while nursing.

I remember DS always sounded congested for a few weeks. I think they are learning how to clear out their nasal passages.

My DS was like this and since he was a december baby, i was concerned that he as sick or something, but my ped assuured me that it was just the fluid from being in the womb. He said for some babies, it can take awhile to clear out completely. If I remember correctly, DS was sounding much better by the time i went back to work when he was 9 weeks old.

Yup! She did and still does sometimes. Peds told me totally normal.

Re: Does your OR did your newborn have a chronically stuffy nose?!
yes and we were told to get a humidifier because the a/c takes out all of the moisture from the air. in the winter - it's the same thing...the heat is DRY - so it irritates their very sensitive nasal passages.
COOL mist humidifier!

Yep! Totally normal as long as there's no fever or other symptoms. The nasal aspirator was priceless (I "stole" the hospital one, the ones I received in the safety kits *SUUCK* and not in a good way). I also elevated his mattress in the bassinette, I rolled a towel and placed it under the pad to elevate his head a wee bit, to let gravity help while he slept!
