Does your toddler in daycare
Come home singing random songs that you can't make out or do dances out of nowhere?!
I know a bunch of songs he sings, but still at 2 he doesn't sing the right words. He still babbles a lot of words to the song.
I figured he was singing the alphabet song the other day when I heard him say "E, Eh, G, Na Na Na Na Pee"
Sometimes he'll spin in a circle and then touch the ground. I guess a dance they do. My fav is whenever he sees a floormat he has to wipe his feet b/c when they come in from outside play they all wipe their feet so when we go outside we have a mat by two of our glass doors and he goes over to wipe his feet.
Oh, and the newest is "follow the leader" where he makes DH and I stand up and he says "march, march, march" doesn't exactly sound like march, but we figured it out.

Yes - I have no clue what he's doing or saying a lot of the time.
You are lucky he wipes his feet on mats - DS lays down on them since they sleep on mats in his new class.

That's funny! DS did that when he started on the mats. It's funny (as long as it's not gross. He likes to take blankets and then lay on them and say "Shhh" to me. He'll also pat his stuffed animal's backs and pretends they're going to sleep like the teachers do to them

I get ssshhed a lot too.
I said to the exec director that I wish I could watch him there one day (without me knowing). I wish they had cameras or something.

Re: Does your toddler in daycare
he comes home with words that I never taught him... yesterday the landscapers were digging a new flower bed in our complex and he stopped dead in his tracks, pointed, and said, "Mommy, shovel!"

Re: Does your toddler in daycare
I haven't experienced this yet, but I am a music therapist in a preschool and I can not tell you the amount of times a parent has visited a music session and said to me "Ohh... THAT'S what he was singing!" Or I'll get random Facebook messages from parents saying things like "Do you sing a song about a tree, with apples? And maybe a leaf that falls?" Or "Did you do a song about a chicken? Can you write out the words because Johnny keeps singing it and I can't understand him."
So cute- kids are so funny!

Re: Does your toddler in daycare
Spin and touch the ground is usually Ring around the Rosies for us. However there's about two other songs that do the same.
Her class represented Puerto Rico and they learned a song about the Coqui (a small frog)
Don't even GET me started on the spanish songs!! I'm like WHAT ?!? I barely (if at all) follow the english verisons!
And then messed up taking over of good old songs to make new lessons.
Like "Where is thumpkin" song is used to sing a poem about Square, Triangle, Circle.
Where is the square Where is the square It has four sides They are all the same size This is a square This is a square

Re: Does your toddler in daycare
I think they do something where they hold hands in a circle too - he keeps on holding my hands and marching in a circle (I was thinking ring aroudn the rosie).
They schedule parent/teacher conferences in December - I wish they did one mid year since he moves rooms every 6 months, he's actually moved 2x since the conference!

So cute! Something similiar happened to us. We were at a toy store last weekend shopping around for a b-day gift for a friend's DS. They had this big stuffed zebra there and DS walks over to it and says "eebra"
DH and I looked at eachother and said... did he just say zebra?! He said it a few more times. I know I never taught him a zebra.

This happened to us with Elmo - DS doesn't watch Sesame St - never seemed interested and it's never on when he's watching tv - and I was in the store with him one day and he went nuts when he saw "Melmo". I bought him a pair of pj for pj day and he thanked me for them

Re: Does your toddler in daycare
DS comes home with different songs all the time. Some I figure out, but others leave me . The funniest are the ones that come with a dance, its hillarious.
Last week on the way to the library, DS started counting to ten............ in spanish . I love my daycare.
