We've had a metal milk crate over them in the yard for 3 months (the landscaper thinks we are nuts Chat Icon )...and nothing Chat Icon

They should have hatched by now...

I wouldn't think they'd hatch without a heat lamp...

That's really great of you though, to try!! Chat Icon

Really?

We did a little research and found this so we figured they would hatch on their own...our yard gets lots of sun...

Females prefer soft, sandy soil with good exposure to the sun for their nest site. Nests are dug with the turtle's hind feet, usually within 200 meters of water. The nest is no deeper than 12 centimeters. The females will lay 4 to 15 oval, soft shelled eggs, in a flask-shaped hole. The eggs are elliptical, white to off-white and are mostly smooth with slight pits[4]. Female turtles may lay up to five clutches of eggs per season although typically, they will lay only one or two clutches. Once the eggs are laid the mother will cover the hole with dirt or sand and leave the nest unattended. Painted turtle eggs hatch 72 to 80 days after they are laid.[1] Once the young hatch and dig out of the nest, they are immediately independent.

Interesting. I'm not an expert by any means - I have tortoises but they are not at mating age so I haven't had to deal with this yet. Chat Icon

I'm sorry they're not showing signs of hatching...maybe they'll surpise you...
