doesn't want to be spoon fed... help!

DS is 12 months old...we are having a hard time getting him to eat most baby food anymore... he still loves his oatmeal and rice cereal, and certain fruits or veggies... but he mostly wants to feed himself.

i have been practicing a little bith with thick cereal and the spoon... but of course he really can'tn do that yet.

he loves bananas, cheese, cheerios, blueberries, sweet potatoes, any bread, bagels, those baby cheese doodles....

but does anyone have any suggestions for ways to make sure he's eating a variety of food and getting what he needs? i am worried that he will just end up eating bananas adn cheerios all the time.

today i tried french toast... he wasn't crazy about it... any more ideas?

My DD is 13 months and last month or so she wanted NOTHING to do with baby food. Now its all table food.
For breakfast I'll cut up some pancakes or waffles with fruit or make her eggs
Lunch is pasta or I'll make her a cheese sandwich and cut it up in small pieces. Soft veggies. I also have the gerber graduate meals in case I'm in a hurry. She loves them.
I try to give her anything as long as it is in small pieces and has some nutrition to it
