Re: Dog and Chocolate--please help
I don't know but
Before they knew it was bad for him my Aunts used to give their toy poodle Hershey's Kisses as treats. He lived for a very long time. My friend used to give her dog peppermint patties. I wouldn't worry too much, I really don't think the chocolate thing affects all dogs. You could try calling animal poison control though to be on the safe side.

Thank you. We are just keeping an eye on for him now. Most things that I looked up said if he was poisoned he would throw up, diahhrea (sp?) and frequent urination within the first 2 hours....so far so good!!!!!

I wouldn't worry too much - just keep an eye on him. Most dogs are okay, just some react badly. My dog had eaten an entire bowl of Hershey Miniatures when I wasn't around and was fine.

Re: Dog and Chocolate--please help
i agree with the others, try not to worry and just keep an eye on him. dh's dog when he was little ate an entire fundraiser box (ya know those big boxes you get at school and have to sell) of chocolate and lived a very long and happy life afterwards

Re: Dog and Chocolate--please help
I had a dog trainer and she said that if they didnt get a lot of it then they would be fine. It also depends on the chocolate. If is chocolate with more cocoa in it then it would be more toxic. But small amounts shouldnt affect your dog.
It doesnt hurt to keep an eye on him though.

Yeah dogs USED to eat chocolate all the time.
He may get diarrhea but that's probably it.

Re: Dog and Chocolate--please help
My dog once ate an entire bag of hershey kisses. I called the vet in a panic and she said that he should be ok as long as it wasn't dark chocolate. Apparently that is worse. So I watched him for a few days and he was fine.
