Dog left in Hot Car....
It's not really that Hot outside but I hate seeing Dog left in the car with the windows up while the owner does there shopping... Those parking lots can get really hot...

I hate this too...were the windows all up???
eta..... i just reread it...I have called the police when i have seen this... especially when I dont see the owners come out after 5 mins or so....even though it isnt that hot out the car can get like an oven....

You would not believe how many people do this...i have worked posts on main street in Bridgehampton and had 4 instances of this so far in the last month and a half...most people give me the old "it's not that hot out"...to which i tell them "you want to sit in the car for a half hour like that???" And i make them take the dog out or sit in there with the AC running.
Call the police or local animal control...I know in Suffolk they have the authority to break the window if necessary if the dog is in distress and can issue a court appearance for the owner.
There was a car today at Tanger Outlet in Riverhead with two dogs in it in the middle of the lot in the sun...my Mom waited around & told the lady she shouldn't do that...she claimed she was gone for 5 minutes...my Mom told her BS...i've been sitting here for 25! i love my Mom...
There is a Suffolk County Law regarding this issue....
Dog in car law...SPCA

Thanks for the link. I think I'm going to print it out & put it a note on the windshield of the cars I see at the grocery store. There are always dogs being left in cars there. I've already called the police non-emergency on one guy in front of CVS.

This happen tome 2 times this week. once at work and the cops where called and the ladies daughter WHILE the cop was right there was throwing a temper tantrum that she wanted to leave and go eat her food, and that is putting it lightly. if that girl was my kid i would have slapped her right in front of the cop. she was a night mare
then 3 days later i was at the riverhead county offices to get a copy of something and there was people standing outside with a sign and 2 boxes . the sign said dogs for sale and in the 2 boxes was about 10 puppies , rotties, the one box had the males and some water, the other box was females and no water or food. they where panting soooo bad, i pulled away and pulled over on the side of the road and called the cops. I PRAY they took those puppies away
