dog poo question- warning- it's gross
OK- this morning Fortune- the white chihuahua- made a BM (bowel movement) and it had clear gellatin like blobs in it- does anyone know what it is?
he isn't eating his breakfast- i have him w. me today at work so I can keep an eye on him.
I'm going to give him white rice/chicken for lunch- if he doesn't eat that he def has to go to vet..
but just wanted to know if anyone has experienced the poo gellatins?

Re: dog poo question- warning- it's gross
Yes, Pyxie had thison 2 occasions. ! when she got a worm from eating a flea. There was the gelatin stuff before the worm matured, and 2 when she had an infection in her vulva.
According to the vet, when there is a parasite or infection the digestive system will secret mucus to try & prevent the foreign body from being absorbed. I am not sure if it can come about for any other reason though.
I would call the vet & see what it could be.
Hope Fortune feels better!

Re: dog poo question- warning- it's gross
Oh boy. I looked online-apparently the mucous can be from diarrhea which can be caused by many things (worms, parasites, bad food, irritable bowel, nerves)
He seems to not have any incidents since this AM and I got him to eat a little bit today- so I think he MIGHT just have had a stomach bug.
Continuing to keep my eye on him- if he does it again (the mucous)- he'll have to go to vet tomorow.

I know when Louie was having trouble pooping - our vet told us to just give him water for 24 hrs and sure enough, it worked like a charm....he was fine the next day....good luck though!
