Dog Scratching??
My dog keeps scratching, and chewing on his paws. Hes only a little over a year old, so i know his teeth are fine. He doesnt have flees, but he scratches constantly and puts cuts on his skin... we gave him a bath.. i think he may have dry skin and i tried conditioner didnt work... I heard if you put a spoon full of oil in his food it helps with the coat,,,, what kind?

Re: Dog Scratching??
Your pup may have allergies. What kind of food are you feeding him? What kind of dog is he?
As for the oil, we give Dottie 1 omega 3/Cod oil vitamin a day to keep her skin from getting too dry.
ETA: Bathing him too much may actually be hurting, not helping. Also, check the ingrediants on the conditioner, if there is any alcohol in it, it will further dry out his skin.

Re: Dog Scratching??
Ours does the exact same thing..we bathe her once a week at most, any more and the vet told us that her skin would get too dry...
I will try the oil as well to see if that helps...she's 2 1/2 now and started doing this excessively (almost nonstop) a few months ago...we brought her to the vet and he said that there's nothing wrong with her....could be anxiety though also, so if your dog is kept at home with no activity that might be a cause as well.

Re: Dog Scratching??
Hes a puggle.. I bought the nonperfume shampoo and conditioner. The chewing on paw he said may be allergies and give him benadryl, but everytime he gets a pill, he vomits. So we stopped doing that. We dont give him a bath that often b/c hes short hair and doesnt require it. He sleeps alot during the day --he hates the heat and around 5 when it cools down he becomes a mad man, ready to play... Hes the cutest little thing ever.

Re: Dog Scratching??
Pugs are prone to skin issues. I would not use the Linatone oil, because it can cause a fungus in the face folds.
Try using bag balm on the pups paws instead, and use a tea tree oil and oatmeal shampoo.
