Dog vomiting
I'm taking her to the vet tomorrow morning, but she's vomited once per day for the last three days. I thought it was just medicine she was taking (for Lyme disease exposure) but they said she's been on it a month and if there was a reaction it would have happened sooner. But it's not a constant sickness, and it's just one time per day, so I'm just curious what it could be. Her stool has been normal. DH has been away since Wed, could it be psychological?
Anyone have this happen? What was it? Poor pup.

Re: Dog vomiting
How old is the dog?
My dog does that sometimes, esp when on an empty stomach. He will vomit bile. I think from not eating his stomach gets upset.
Also he gags easily and throws up easily. it used to happen daily sometimes as a puppy, but was nothing and doesn't happen much now that he eats better than he did as a pup.
It is probably nothing, or could be eating less b/c of missing your DH?
ETA. I just read about the Lime disesae exposure. Could there be any relation to that?

Re: Dog vomiting
She's 2. Not sure about the lyme disease. I think they had said she doesn't have it, but was exposed, but that was in March when she had a tick. Don't know how that works.
She has also had strange eating habits the last few days. Fri and Sat she didn't eat breakfast, and she ended up eating it much later in the day. I thought maybe that made her sick, but the last two days, I've given her dry food only, and she still got sick. I'm not going to give her dinner tonight, since from reading they say don't feed them for about 12 to 24 hours. She's been scooting her butt on the ground too, but her stool is still normal.
Oh well. I guess we'll find out tomorrow what it might be.

Re: Dog vomiting
A lot of times the scooting the butt thing has to do with their anal glands. THey usually need to be popped. As far as the vomiting, you said she has been on the lymes medicine for a month, then she would have most likely had a reaction sooner. And if it had something to do with Lymes disease there would be other signs as well. My dog got bit by a tick 3 years ago. I pulled it out and it wasn't till a year later, I rushed her to the vet for 103 fever and she was limping. Turns out it was lymes disease. It can take a long time to show symptoms, but if you got her medication right away then she is probably going to be fine.
My dog vomits when he eats to fast. He gags and then vomits. Sometimes even when he drinks to fast. There are a number of things that it could be. But I am sure she will be fine. Good luck at the vet. I hope she feels better!

Re: Dog vomiting
Thanks,
Turns out she does have some bacteria in her stool. So they gave her antibiotics and I go back in 10 days to check on her. He gave her a shot in her butt to help with the vomiting, and she was so good. Didn't yelp or flinch at all. I knew it wasn't just eating too fast because she would throw up hours after eating, and she did it this morning and she didnt eat since yesterday morning.

Re: Dog vomiting
When my dog gets ill, i give him chop meat with rice.. that usually helps until his stomach goes back on track.

Re: Dog vomiting
We went through a very long phase of vomiting.
If it keeps happening, ask the vet about giving Pepcid. Don't give it on your own, though, as it may interfere with your dog's other meds. Also, the dose is different depending on their weight. It was a lifesaver for us. Also, we had to experiment to find the right food.
