Doggie Play Date
Hi Everyone,
I'm new here, so I wanted to first say hi and introduce myself!! I'm from Suffolk County and I have two dogs - an 8 year old lab-chow mix and a 2 year old Australian Cattle dog. The lab-chow (Cody) is super gentle and friendly, but also really shy! Donatello is still quite a puppy and loves running around and showing off his high energy levels!
I was wondering if anyone would be interested in meeting up at Gardiners park for a play date one weekend or evening to make some new 4 legged friends (the 2 legged kind is good, too!). My boys get along very well with other dogs and this park is a great place to meet up.
I look forward to meeting you and your pets!

I would love to, but Gardiners park is a bit too far from where I live in Suffolk. Welcome though!

I don't know where you're located in Suffolk but I take my boy to Blydenburgh every weekend.
They have a great dog park and there's always tons of dogs

This is a great Park. We'll be headed there on Saturdays begining October :)
I'd love to do a doggie GTG!

Is Blydenburgh in Smithtown? I've heard of it, but haven't been there. I live in Islip Terrace, so Gardiner's is the closest park I know of for dogs.

Oooh count me in! My pup LOVES play dates! We make sure to have as many as possible with his friends and 'cousins' LOL, but it doesn't seem to be enough for him! I'm in Farmingville, so I wouldn't mind going out to Gardiners.
My Pup is a pit mix... I think he's mostly boxer, I really see NO pit in him. LOL. He was a 'shy' puppy, but now he just loves to play. Yes, he has his moments, like when he got a Christmas Tree LOL..he was SCARED of it!!!
Lemme know what day and times you have in mind...I would need my DH to come with since he usually listens to him better HA. He's 80lbs, so when he gets excited...he GOES! And pulls me with him LOL.

I'm right on the border of Islip Terrace and CI and we got to Byldenburgh all the time. It only takes me about 15 minutes if I happen to hit every light (which I always do!).
It's a great park. We go all the time. I would love to meet up!

I'm so glad you all are interested in a play date!!! Seems like Blydenburg is the better park for everyone?! I know it's last minute, but I'm free this weekend, if anyone else is. Otherwise, maybe we can set something for next Saturday??

Gardiner's Park is in West Islip on Montauk Hwy....east of Robert Moses Causeway. west of 5th Ave.

I will be at Blydenburgh with Norway around 11 am tomorrow.
If you see a crazy yellow lab going up to every single person on the benches to get his butt rubbed that's us!

This weekend doesn't work for us... since we just lost out Kitty  but next week SHOULD be ok... Just gotta find out where this park is LOL

I just googled Blydenburgh (I don't know how to get there, either!) and this is what it says: The main (southern) entrance to the park is on the north side of Veterans Memorial Highway, opposite the H. Lee Dennison County Center in Smithtown. The northern entrance can be reached by following Route 347 to Brooksite Drive North; turn left on New Mill Road and follow to park entrance at end.
