Re: dogs at beaches

We take Gizzy to the beach during the off season. Nobody is there to check. Just bring bags to clean up after him and stay away from the other people that are there.

I think it depends on the beach.

My parents belong to a home owners association in Montauk and dogs are only allowed on the beach from Labor Day to Memorial Day and then I believe after 6pm (it may be 8pm, I am not sure)

Some guy at my vets office the other night said during the spring and summer Nickinson Beach has a dog run. I'm going to start to bring my dogs there when it gets a little warmer out.

Re: dogs at beaches

Suffolk county parks allow dogs all the time- that is leashed. There is also gardiner's park which has a trial to the bay.

A dog run is an enclosed area where the dogs pay with each other unleashed. the one in nickerson is not on the beach.

Cody spends the summer on the beach with us.

We take them to the Smithtown beaches in the spring/fall but not summer. I believe there is a beach in the Hamptons that is dog friendly but I cannot remember where I read or saw that.

Not allowed... but we took Bailey to Robert Moses last weekend anyway... during off season, nobody really bothers you.

Re: dogs at beaches

I'm not sure where you live, but we take Misty to Smith Point all summer after work. Dogs are allowed on leash and if you walk down a little bit away from the restaurant we take her off the leash and let her run.
There's a neat outdoor eatery there and we usually go there after and have something to eat.
