Don Imus
i understand why they're making a big deal of what don imus did. he said he'll fill his suspension without any appeals. he has apologized for what he did. what difference is what he did compared to what howard stern does. howard stern never apologizes.
do you think that don imus should be fired from his job?

No, and I also think that he should not have to apologize repeatedly. If he wants to say something stupid & rude it is his right under the First Amendment. It is my right to chose not to listen if I do not agree.

Funny you should mention that....O&A this morning were listening to what they referred to as a "black-centered talk radio show" this morning that was riddled with racial comments & words that a "white person" would be reprimanded for. They actually called out for Al Sharptom to comment against them & have them fired too.......

What bothers me in this whole situation was that al sharpton is making don imus apologize. Who is al sharpton to demand this? UGH, i can't stand him. he takes soundbites and twists situations to fit his own agenda. Then he harps on it forever.
I agree that what imus said was dumb and could be construed as racist, but you don't hear sharpton calling out charles Barron for the racist things he says.

um....the coach of the basketball team and the players should be the ones that he has to apologize to directly...why does that arrogant jerkwad Sharpton think he is the be-all end-all of all things racial. i wish he'd just S T F U and let Imus apologize to the RIGHT ppl in a press conference and sharpton shouldn't be allowed withint 1000 yards of it.

Don Imus is an idiot and a bigot. He has admitted in the past to calling a black secretary the n-word.
The only reason he is apologizing is to cover his own a$$, not because he's sorry or he feels badly for what he did.
I don't think he ever should have gone on Sharpton's show. He obviously doesn't care to make peace with anyone. He just wants to keep his job. Dumb move.
The reasons given for his suspension are that he's been warned several times in the past for his racist remarks.
Do I agree with him? No. Does he have a right to free speech? Yes.
Does CBS & NBC have the right to suspend him for breaking THEIR rules? Yes.
ETA: I think Sharpton is an idiot too

I don't think he should be fired because of the first amendment. Being a racist isn't illegal yet.
Everyone gets up in arms when they're offended, and everyone always wants to say whatever they want to say, but who ever takes the time to realize that this the price of free speech - you're going to hear things that you don't like!
What irritates me most about this is that Don Imus isn't any more or less of a bigot than Al Sharpton is himself. Sharpton is such a hate monger - at least I have the option of NOT tuning in to Imus's show. Whenever Sharpton starts spewing his venom all over the place you can't get away from it.
