Donating a Car - process Q
someone is coming to pick up a car that I am donating in a little while.
Do I sign the Title? or no, because I am not really selling it?
I just want to have everything ready.
Thanks!

I think signing the title would just be transferring ownership

You sign the title over when they take possession of the car. It doesn't matter if you are selling it, donating it or giving it to a relative. Signing the title transfers ownership.

Makes sure you notify DMV. The last thing you need is someone driving a car that's registered to you.
I would assume you'd sign the title so that they take ownership of the car.

Re: Donating a Car - process Q
I did this recently. In my case, the title was signed over and mailed in to the charity in advance and a third party came to pick up the car, when they received the title in the mail. I would assume you should sign the title over to whatever group you are donating to.
The other thing DMV told me to do was to keep the insurance on the car. When they took the car, I took the plates off and turned them in to DMV. I didn't cancel my insurance until I turned in the plates.
