Donating a car- recommend where to
We are looking for a charity to donate my car. I went to google where to donate it and it gave a bunch of websites that you can pick your charity. But are these places that are legal and for real?

Def. the fire departments. Plus, they will fill out the paperwork for your tax deduction right then and there.

I suggest donating to a charity whose mission you support -- finding a cure for a certain disease, Habitat for Humanity, support services for kids with HIV/AIDS, whatever.
We donated to the American Cancer Society. It was simple process - they picked up the car, filled out the paperwork, etc.

If you are donating your car and plan on using the "deduction" for taxes, beware that the law has changed. You can no longer use the KBB value of the car as a tax deduction.
We have a few tax accountants here that could guide you on what the new law is.
As far as what agency, lots of charity take cars. Cancer society, etc...
