Donor Eggs

Is anyone on here going through IVF using a Donor Egg?

What are you feelings on it? I have no choice but to use one - on one hand im grateful i can even hold a pregnancy (hopefully) but on the other - its hard for me to accept that the child wont share my genes with my husbands. mixed feelings...and would like to know if anyone is in the same boat.

Sorry , i feel like i've asked 185739 questions today..

Re: Donor Eggs

Totally understand. Due to a genetic condition I have, my doctor recommended I go to DE. I'm just not ready yet Chat Icon

Re: Donor Eggs

My other option is to just keep doing what I'm doing. Doing IVFs and IUIs and hope for the best.

DH is really not into the DE thing, but he also has 2 kids already. He thinks its him having a kid with someone else...but if its what needs to happen, it will Chat Icon

I will have viable eggs, just few and far between.

Thanks! I know they'll work out for you, too. We deserve it!

Re: Donor Eggs

I have been thinking about that road if I ever have to come to it. Will I be ready? I doubt it, but the only way I see it, the only other option I have if the IVF doesn't work is adoption, I would rather have the experience of being pregant over adopting. No one will have to know you used a donor egg unless you want to share that with someone.

No they dont have to know - but to me thats a hefty secret - you know? My husband and I wonder about telling the child one day as well....We dont want to make our issue seem like its a 'bad thing' and by keeping the DE a secret, or not telling our child how they came to be - makes me feel like its all a bad thing. its hard to explain. i guess i just have had a lot of time to really think about the situation and the best way to handle it all. Of course it wont be public knowledge to the whole world ..... very hard. the whole thing. its sad. bc i see people look at babies and say "oh he/she looks so much like you!" (to the mom) and i think that will never be me. but at least it will be my husband...one of us.
