dont buy this toy!!!!!!
my son is 8 months old,i bought him this Vtech baby's learning laptop,it says for 6 mo's and up..he was playing with it and his finger got stuck when he shut the lid,he couldnt get his finger out,i had to,his finger looks like it was smashed in a door,hes been crying for an hour..i took it back and complained to the company..garbage toy.. that happened to my dd with another toy too.....poor baby 
my dd was crying and I could not figure out why, I realized that her finger was stuck and she was pushing down on it with the other hand without realizing it

now that you mention, we bought an Elmo laptop and Matthew has closed his fingers on it a few times. it is quite heavy too

my Dd has this toy and the only part she enjoys with it is closing it.  she hasn't closed it on her fingers yet, but now i am nervous!

awwww...poor baby. Maybe it was just that one? Cause we have that toy and Noahs fav thing to do is open and close it and it doesnt close tightly at all.
I would write to the company to complain ( store cant do anything) and maybe yours was defective, but get some money back or something.
