Don't know what you make of this banking situation
Opened the statement from our car loan which has automatic payments anyway and it says we only owe twenty something dollars.  Call to ask what's up and apparently there was a payment made in dh's name from some random bank. No idea who made it or why. I probably shouldn't completing but wtf! We don't use that bank for anything but the car loan btw.

Make your regular payment.
That's why I don't do automatic payments, I like to be in control.
The random payment was most likely for another account.

Yeah it's still pulling our regular payment anyway. Dh is going to call the bank and see if it was meant for someone else. It's just weird bc it had his name and you would assume they go by the account number before the name anyway. Who knows.

I agree, they will likely find that the payment was posted to the wrong account and then it will be taken from your account. If that happens you can be hit with a late fee for not making the full payment.

I agree, they will likely find that the payment was posted to the wrong account and then it will be taken from your account. If that happens you can be hit with a late fee for not making the full payment.
Thankfully we wouldn't bc the auto payment is still paying the full amount. We called the bank that made the payment and they're going to try to figure it out and call back.

This. Ask for a copy of the check that was deposited or the ACH detail for the payment. Probably a teller error or something.

Idk, the bank the deposit came from called back with info I don't understand but basically they don't know who made they payment or if they f'd up or what. At this point I just feel bad that someone probably missed a payment but hopefully they'll figure it out soon. I'm assuming that money will be taken back eventually.
