Don't let UPS leave Xmas packages on your porch.
This is the week for the most stolen packages so don't let USPS, UPS or FedEX leave them on your porch when your not home...

We are lucky enough to be last on all deliver routes. They all never get here till after 6pm so someone is always home.

Re: Don't let UPS leave Xmas packages on your porch.
how do you request for them to NOT leave them on the porch?
it seems as though every time i order something online - they just drop it at our doorstep. should i just put a big sign on the door that says "please don't leave any packages - come back when we are home for a signature"?? i wonder if it is because i live in a somewhat rural area?
i just never knew i had a choice in the matter - the only thing that ever required a signature was something that i ordered from tiffany's and that is, according the tiffany rep, standard practice for everything they ship.
ETA: a few times - i was HOME during the day and noticed the UPS/Fed Ex guy pull in the driveway - come to the door - and just drop the package - not even ring the bell to SEE if i was home for a signature.

Re: Don't let UPS leave Xmas packages on your porch.
If they couldn't leave packages on my doorstep, I'd never get any packages. We're NEVER home to get them!
I'd think you could always write a note (or ask the delivery man if you see him) to leave the packages in the back if you have a porch or something...
I don't think they will just not deliver a package, though, if it doesn't require a signature for delivery.

When you purchase an item request a signed delivery by someone at your home....

This is why I have packages delivered to me at work. The guys in Receiving bring me samples from vendors all the time, so they never even know if it's something personal!!

My problem is that I don't want to walk 13 blocks to Penn Station, commute home with huge packages, and then have to carry them for the 15 minute walk home from the train station.
Some of my boxes were big this year, too! With small stuff, I'll have it sent to work.
