My OB had to check on me and the babies Pediatrician had to check on the baby before I could be released both times... I'm not sure if it's that way at every hospital, but it has been at the 2 I've been in.

If your peditrician is affiliated with your hospital then they will check on the baby at the hospital after you deliver. If they are not affiliated then then the hospital will have a peditrician that works there check your baby out and then you can bring the baby to your peditrician at their office after you are discharged.

They usually check the baby out AT the hospital and very soon after you go home.
