Double IUI vs Single IUI
Good morning everyone! My RE is RSofNY in SB and i had my trigger shot on thursday at 8am and my iui on friday at 11 - 11:30 am.
I had 1 follicle measuring at 21.5mm on my right ovary. The other ones were smaller 14 and 15mm on right and left.
Anyway when i spoke to dr cain she said depending on my dh count we would do either 1 iui or a double iui. He had 22million count after wash and she didnt suggest a double iui. She didnt even mention it. I did some research online and that count normal its not a WOW number but its not a bad one either. I wonder why i only had 1 iui done? of course we bd just in case but im wondering if this month doesnt work i can just ask to have a double iui done? Why do some people get double iui and some only get 1? Any imput/answers would be appreciated. Thanks

Re: Double IUI vs Single IUI
I go to RSofNY also. When I asked, I was told that the studies show that the success rate with back-to-back IUI vs. a single-day IUI are dependant upon DH's numbers. I asked this of two different docs there and got the same answer from both.
I think (?) they said that the count needs to be below 8 million for it to increase chances of success. Based on what I was told, there is no reason for a back-to-back on you.
We always do one IUI and then BD a lot afterwards.

Re: Double IUI vs Single IUI
Thanks guys! My dh was kinda upset we didnt do double iuis and we probally lost a security iui but now i can assure him his guys are pretty good numbers so we dont need the double iui. Hoping this month is successful! Last month we did 1 iui too but the timing was wrong with ovulation. I will find out on halloween if we were successful Hopefully we are. i can call my miracle my lil candy corn!

Re: Double IUI vs Single IUI
I was a RS of NY patient also. We only did back to back once when i insisted. It didn't work. The cycle that worked was only one IUI.
I think those numbers are fine. Good luck!!
