Double stroller questions
I have been researching double strollers b/c come March I will need one. Do side by side strollers make it possible to put an infant car seat in it? I have only seen the one in back of the other hold the infant seat. I am sure both types have pros and cons. I just would appreciate some opinions from the Moms who have either. What do you like or don't like about your double stroller? Maybe this will help: the babies will be less than a year apart.
TIA Carolyn

Re: Double stroller questions
The other con of the side by side is that it makes maneuvering in store aisles difficult because they are wider.
I know most side by sides do not allow for an infant seat but I believe there are some out there. Moms definitely have a preference and there are pros and cons to each.
The moms on the multiples board are real experts on most of the double strollers out there so you might want to post on the multiples board, we'd be happy to help you out or you can do a search. There was a thread about it on that board a few months ago.

Re: Double stroller questions
I believe a pro of a side by side is it folds up more compact but I voted front to back because its easier to move in the isles at the store

Re: Double stroller questions
I have both kinds. We started with a Duoglider (front to back), then moved to a sit n stand (which I love) and we also have a double jogger (side to side). Front to back is def. easier in stores. Plus I liked that I could keep the older one from touching the baby. In the jogger my older one is frequently pushing her brother's arm or whatever.

Re: Double stroller questions
there are a lot of double joggers that will take a car seat.
Peg Perego makes a 60/40 stroller, but you have to contact them.
I love my side by side strollers, I have jogger and the aria. I have no problems fitting through doorways and aisles.
Good luck, happy searching!

Re: Double stroller questions
I answered on Multplies, but IMO, I prefer side by sides.

Re: Double stroller questions
I prefer side by sides....someof them are made to fit through a standard 30 inch doorway.
I have a Combi side by side and I put my Graco infant seat in it. It fits snugly but does not click the way it does with the Graco stroller....
It weighs 11 lbs, folds up so easily, and I can manuever it with one hand. I have NO issues go in stores with it. It fits through a regular doorway easily, I just need someone to open that door for me.

Re: Double stroller questions
My search for a double has been more exhausting and extensive then my research on a house and car!
I prefer the side by sides-alot of them now can fit through standard doorways, and if they can't, the doorway isn't standard
my girls are 14 months apart and i must have plopped my older one in 10 strollers, and she looked so cramped in the tandem strollers(one behind each other) and she's a peanut! Plus I could already hear the fights in the future about who sits in the front..
My advice-try to figure out what you will be using the stroller for the most before looking. FOr me, DH is always with me on errands, so i wanted a stroller primarily for walks when he's not around, and a stroller to go shopping with.
We decided on the Baby jogger city series double. It fits through doors, is easy to manuever-it's basically an all terrain stroller and not a jogger. There is an adapter coming out hopefully soon for this stroller for an infant seat.
GOod luck in your search!

Re: Double stroller questions
I have the side-by-side Peg Perego and I love it.
Unfortunately it doesn't have the infant seat attachement but I would rather have a 14 lbs easy to fold stroller than a 40 lbs stroller.
It is easy to move and gets through door ways with no problems.
Sometimes shopping can be a pain because the aisles are so small, but even with my single graco stroller I always said the aisles aren't big enough.
