Doula Info
Can anyone give me some info on Doulas they have used or rec's from family/friends?
Im only looking for a Labor doula ( not post partum) .
I see lists on line, but I dont want to just be so random about contacting people.
And any info on costs would be great. It seems to range, but I need to get an idea of cost before I pursue looking into it any further. A general idea would be great.

Where do you live? My sister has partial doula training and I'm sure she'd be able to recommend someone, or at least put you in the right direction

What exactly is a labor doula? My sister is a L&D nurse (not on LI), and since my hospital is sooo strict about visiting hours, etc., she keeps 'joking' that she's going to bring her credentials and say she's my doula, so she can be in the room (I do want her in the room, if she can get to LI when I'm in labor).

I am in Lindenhurst, delivering At Winthrop.

Donna -- I just emailed the childbirth instructor I will be taking the class with to see if she could recommend someone now. I will let you know!! I am looking too... even tho my sister (RN) will probably be with me for L&D, I would like a doula...
