Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
Hi ladies -- first thank you for the warm welcome.
My RE (who I love and trust) recommended Dr. Braverman to me, who is his associate on LI (SIRM). I am not sure I want to go here since he is also an RE, and I know how weird it is to have pregnant women and women struggling to conceive in the same waiting room. Also afraid he may be more "dedicated" to the RE division.
Dr. Bergman was mentioned by a few people on this board, and I have an initial consult on Oct. 17. I don't know too much about him except that he is also high risk.
So if anyone has any info on either Dr. good or bad, can you tell me? FM is OK too. Or any other recommendations for high-risk in Nassau...
Ex. Do you see the Dr. or a NP? Who does the sonograms? How long is the wait usually? etc. Thanks!

Re: Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
I see Dr. Klein at Great Neck OB-GYN. It's quite a hike from both my job and home.
I go there because: 1. That's where my RE from NSUH recommended 2. I've heard great things through the grape-vine 3. They specialize in multiples 4. They deliver at NSUH and since I have a 50-60% chance that one or both babies will be in the NICU for at least a brief period of time I want them at NSUH Manhasset.
FM me if you'd like the info.
ETA: I see a doctor at every visit. The sonogram tech did my 12 weeks and then the they have a dedicated doc there, Dr. Gross, who oversees all sonos and ultrascreens.

Re: Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
Are you looking for a doctor in Manhattan or LI? I need a high risk OBGYN in Manhattan. Any suggestions?

My friend saw Dr. Braverman - but only as an RE. He was wonderful to her.

Re: Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
I see Dr. Braverman for recurrent m/c. we are still trying naturally. For me he was a great option because SIRM is really one of the only Dr's that specialize in RM and he was the only one covered by my ins. and in LI. I have to say his nurse is the LEAST responsive nurse I have dealt with. I have to call 100 times to get test results. I live in Suffolk and have a pretty demanding job so its somewhat inconvenient to go there during th day. I do like the Dr and he is very knowledgable. Hope that helps

Re: Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
Just jumping in here, I was recommended to see Dr. Klein as well when I get pregnant for high risk. Apparently he has a great reputation.
Best of luck!
I love my current OBGYN though and would highly recommend her and other's in her practice. I go to Dr. Cara Lieberman.

Re: Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
Dr. Bergman was my doctor and he is AMAZING!!!! FM me if you want more info. I was high risk because of my heart condition. He is down to earth and funny. I freaked out over every little thing and he answered ALL my questions and made me laugh too!
PLUS - if you have a c-section and love music he takes requests from his ipod...DD was born to U2!!!
ETA: I traveled from Monroe, NY to Great Neck (an hour and a half) to see him once every two weeks from week 22-30 and then once a week from week 30-38 1/2 weeks (when DD was born). Having him as my doctor was worth every mile and every tank of gas.
I saw him at every appointment. If he had an emergency, I saw Dr. Marchbein. Dr. Bergman's staff took my BP, weight, etc. and then he examined me and spoke to my DH and I whenever we had questions and we had a TON of them! The wait was never more than 10 minutes and most of the time it was five minutes. He also cordinated with my cardiologist at columbia presbyterian, even though my cardiologist was affliated with a different hospital, Dr. Bergman made all of us feel comfortable. Dr. Bergman is in his forties, I love the fact that he was young and on the cutting edge of all the new info coming out. When my DD had to have a fetal echo, the echo tech said that at 31 weeks that was too late. Dr. Bergman told me that was BS and new studies showed that they can get the info needed up until 33 weeks (they were afraid they would not get a good pic ofg her heat because she was too big at that point). I told the echo tech what my doctor said and the echo tech was suprised. I have many more examples can give, if you need them. He delivers at NSHU @ Manhasset and that is where I had my DD. He is a wonderful doctor and easy on the eyes!!

Re: Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
I have been seeing Dr. Braverman for a long time and I love him! I also love the nurse practioners Karen and Robin that are there, I see them for routine stuff. One of his nurses, Linda is great, I've never had any problems there, except for a cranky receptionist from time to time. I was high risk and I feel he dealt with my situation amazingly! Everyone has different outlooks on what they want in a dr so it's a tough choice, I know that I will be sticking with Dr. Braverman unless I ever move out of LI! If you have any questions just FM me. Good Luck!!!

Re: Dr. Braverman vs. Dr. Bergman
I don't know Dr. Bergman personally but my OB's group recently merged with his group, and they are all called Preferred Women's Health now. I have been seeing Dr. Prince as my OBGYN for years and recently saw Dr. Marchbein for one of my OB appointments. I normally go to the Woodbury office. I like Dr. Prince and Dr. Marchbein was very nice as well. I have heard good things about Dr. Bergman, so I think you're in very good hands. Good luck with your appointment!
