Dr. Browns bottles
When warming the bottle I know your not supposed to get formula in the tube but as soon as I put it in the cup of water in the sink the tube filled with water. What do I do?
Silly me I meant it fills with formula not water. Sorry.

Why not? I didn't know this! Is it really bad if there is formula in there?

no its okay. it happens. you can loosen the cap a bit. i called them about this and they said it was fine. sometimes if you make the cap too tight it causes it. i always heat my bottles with the guts inside and then i put on the nipple. etd to say about the original post, i dont know why water would get into it?

Re: Dr. Browns bottles
The reason this happens is because as the formula warms, the pressure inside increases, so the formula goes up the tube (like mercury does in a thermometer). Sometimes the formula will leak out the ring of the bottle if it rises too much (I lost a few oz. of BM that way several times). Just loosen the top ring while you heat the bottle and it won't happen.

I didn't know this either. Is the idea that the tube is how the air gets out???
