Dr. Hanauer is great
She really is. She called me yesterday, there was actually a reason for my miscarriage. She said luckily it was a fluke, but I should take comfort in knowing it was something completely random and shouldn't have to worry about it happening again. It's called Triploidy. She said that during the division process the cell duplicates and divides and at some point during that process there was a glitch and instead of 23 chromosomes and 23 chormosomes = 46, there was an extra set, making it a total of 69 chromosomes. And the baby never would have made it full term so to be thankful in a way that it happened during the first semester. If he did make it, then he would have died in the first few hours, or the first few days. I feel better knowing that. She said that it had nothing to do with DH or myself, that it was totally a fluke of nature and when that happens, the baby does not survive. And, sadly, it was a boy. She said that makes her feel really good getting that report, that there was a reason, and not a reason to concern me. She said she was happy to be calling me with that particular scenario.
She has only sent in 2 chromosome testing after d&c's from a first miscarriage in her career and the reason she sent mine in is because the first one, the girl was devastated and it came back that the baby had downs and she thought it was a blessing in disguise sort of thing, so she said if you are in the hospital, why not send it, so she sent mine, and now I can have closure, and know not to worry about the next time, so she said she will be sending them in from now on. Most doctors will not send tissue in for testing after first m/c. I did get comfort hearing all this from her.

I'm so glad you got closure and know you had nothing to do with the M/C. I found having a report after my M/C really comforting also. I was happy to know that I didn't do anything to bring it on. BABY DUST!

Like Sharonm said...you now have closure and that there was nothing that you did wrong. Mine came back fine, and I still wonder what did "I" do that killed my baby

Oh Diane, PLEASE don't think that way. I know what you mean, but yours could have been just a fluke as well. Please take comfort in knowing you can conceive and WILL conceive again. You wanted that baby more than anything and took good care of yourself and did nothing to cause it.

Re: Dr. Hanauer is great
I don't post on here often, I'm very new to the TTC world...but just wanted to tell you that you did NOTHING to cause your miscarriage! It happens so often with no real rhyme or reason-to women who take ever precaution during pregnancy. 2 aunts of mine have had miscarriages, my grandmother had 2, and had done nothing to cause it.
Good luck with everything in the future!!!

Kitkat,....you know I am glad you received the information that helped bring closure.
Diane, you loved that baby and didn't do anything to cause the miscarriage.
Some things are just beyond our control.

Re: Dr. Hanauer is great
My response didn't come up the first time.
Anyway, I love Dr. Hanauer!!!!!
She made me feel so comfortable at my first visit, and when I went for a consult about my progesterone levels, she thought it was great that I'm reading on my own and being proactive.
I'm happy your experience with her was positive as well.

I love Dr. Hanauer! Honestly I had an "issue" at she made me feel so great. I was also so NERVOUS going to the Dr. for the first time and she made me feel so comfortable and told me to come back when I felt better and was ready. I went the next month she said I didnt think Id see you again. I LOVE HER.
And To you!

Thanks. She is really sweet. So is the nurse practitioner there, Kerry. The whole staff really. I was able to compose myself in the office for hte most part the day we found out, but when I called in and they asked who was calling, they said oh hi, how are you feeling. They just were really compassionate which is what I needed at that time. And Dr. Hanauer truly cares about her patients.

Re: Dr. Hanauer is great
KitKat ... I already told you by FM but I am so glad that your doctor is so amazing and compassionate, and that you finally have a bit of closure on your loss. I know firsthand just how important that feels after a M/C, and just getting more insight as to "why" you might have miscarried really does help in the healing process. I am so very glad this helped somewhat to put "closure" on your loss. You will never forget, but it enables you to try and move on.. for that I am very happy for you
Diane.. as everyone else said, PLEASE NEVER for ONE SECOND blame yourself for your M/C.. More often than not, we NEVER know why a pregnancy does not go to term, or why a miscarriage occurs... its so very hard to understnad, come to terms with and move past but there is no way you can EVER blame yourself... you will be blessed with a healthy pregnancy someday and before long will have a baby in your arms
KitKat .. for you as well
BD to all **** ****

Re: Dr. Hanauer is great
Just wanted jump on this thread. I am so sorry that I am so sorry for your loss. I love Dr. Hanauer too. She is the sweetest! She delivered my son and I actually have the most positive birth story thanks to her. She actually wasn't on call and a family function to deliver my son. She said she wouldn't leave me in my time of need! I love that woman!
