Dr. Hanauer patients...Or anyone who can recommend an OBGYN!!!!
Is she accepting new patients?? I liked my OBs office however, lately they are really testing me. I havent been going there long so it's not like i'll "miss them". I can never ever get a live person on the phone, they take hoursssssssss (sometimes even the next day) to get back in touch with me. I had an appt last night for a sono and a talk with the doctor. I got there and they said my doctor wasnt in?? i was like umm ok he told me to come in tonight AND i had an appt. She said Oh i guess no one told you he went down to DC for the inauguration. Ummm NO no one called, thanks for having me drive all the way here. I was p*ssed.
I want someone who is nice, reliable and has great bedside manners! I hear great things about Hanauer so do you think I have a shot??

Re: Dr. Hanauer patients...
You'll need to call to find out. I love Dr. H, but that office is BUSY! Sometimes the wait on the phone is long and on average I wait about 30 mins at my appts. You'll also need to make several months of appts in advance with Dr. H, she books up quickly.

Re: Dr. Hanauer patients...
Dr. Hanauer herself is wonderful. She is incredibly sweet and I'm sure she has a wonderful bedside manner during labor and delivery.
I must warn you that her practice is very busy. I OFTEN got very annoyed when I called as I'd be put on hold forever. You have to book appointments 1-2 months in advance. I probably just had bad luck but I also got several appointments cancelled because she had to deliver. You also have to wait pretty long when you get to the office. I ALWAYS had to wait for almost an hour, whether I was early, right on time, or late for my appointment.
Her office has a lot of pros/cons. You have to decide if the pros outweight the cons.

Re: Dr. Hanauer patients...Or anyone who can recommend an OBGYN!!!!
When I was pregnant with my son - I didn't have any issues making appts. with Dr. hanauer. I also didn't have a problem if there was a wait because I knew she would take her time with me also.
I would meet her for yourself and then take it from there. My previous dr. before her was a nightmare - he would see me for all of two seconds and that was after I waited for TWO hours.
I can't say enough good things about Hanauer!

I see Dr. Nimaroff in Great Neck. He and his partner, Dr. Klein are top maternal and fetal medicine specialists. I have no complaints at all about their practice. BTW, I switched to them after seeing Dr. Hanauer for a short time at the beginning of my pregnancy. HTH!

I see Dr. Buck-Haskin in Great Neck. She delivers at LIJ. Her office can have a wait because it's just her, but I like the nurses and she's very thorough.
The major "wait" tends to be for mommies waiting to use the monitor---she only has one in her office. When I was preggers, I would just bring a book with me though, and often, depending on time of day of appt, they can get you in and out pretty quickly.

Re: Dr. Hanauer patients...Or anyone who can recommend an OBGYN!!!!
I just started going to Dr. Hanauer's office. My monthly appointments alternate between Dr. Dolisi and Dr. Hanauer. I figured it would be best to get to know both just in case one is away when the baby comes.
I had bronchitis about two weeks ago and called Dr. Hanauer and Dr. Dolisi's office, they called me back within the hour to let me know my antibiotics were safe to take.
I've been there three times and have never waited longer than 25 minutes. I used to go to Long Island Women's healthcare on Merrick Road and on avergae I would wait at least 45 min to an hour in the waiting room.

I can't say enough good things about Hanauer! Same here. In the 2 PGs I have been through with her, she has only had to reschedule once, and I never really had a problem with the phone wait either. The staff there is very helpful & friendly, and even with my gazillion issues they were nothing short of amazing with me.
They do have an issue with their phone system, and it is busy at times, but there are several lines going in, so you can work around it.

I see Dr Mesbah also - he is excellent! the girls in the office are great too - i have nothing bad to say about them. i have been going to him since i was 17 and followed him to 3 different offices!
I had some issues getting pregnant and during my pregnancy and he handled everything great IMO. My friend is a L&D nurse and she has great things to say about him, which says a lot if you ask me.
Dr. Dolisi was covering for Dr Mesbah one day when I was in the hopsital and he was great too - very caring. I was very upset b/c my DS was in the NICU and he was understanding and even called down to see how he was the nexrt day (when he wasn't on call naymore)

I go to Dolisi/ Hanauer office. I really like them, but it is true about the wait. I usually wait about 30 min, but this past monday I waited an hour. But they do spend their time with you.

Re: Dr. Hanauer patients...Or anyone who can recommend an OBGYN!!!!
I had Dr. Hanauer for my pregnancy with DS. Dr. Dolisi actually did my c-section.
When I had my m/c 2 months ago. She called me at home 2 days after I came in the office (the day I was m/cing) to make sure I was doing OK.
Last week, I left a message for her to call me and TTC for #2 and issues with DS. I anticipated her calling me back in the evening after all her appointments but she called me back only 1 hour after she came in the office.
I have had to wait anywhere from 15 minutes to 1 hour to see her. I bring a book. But I love her care so I am OK with it.
I have confidence and I feel comfortable with her.
I never have problems getting appointments. I love the front desk (except a recent incident with my m/c and I did address it with Dr. H who was thankful that I mentioned what happened).

Re: Dr. Hanauer patients...Or anyone who can recommend an OBGYN!!!!
i love dr mesbah too...
i originally thought about sticking to a female dr- i tried dr hanauers office but always had the toughest time reaching them on the phone, the appts i did get to there dh created the name "dr wait an hour"..even though that was only to see the nurses- when i finally was mc'ing and the nurse brought her in we just didnt click...
so i switch to dr mesbah from another rec on here.... for me i know i wanted a dr that delivered at winthrop, a non busy office, and friendly staff
