Re: Dr. Kofinas
Dr. Kofinas comes highly recommended on the pregnancy board and I was going to see him for my pregnancy but he does not deliver and does not take insurance (you have to go out of network and meet a deductible which for me is $350). His office hours were also not late enough for me because I work full time. Instead I am going to Dr. Klein and Dr. Nimaroff in Manhasset. They are top high risk doctors and chiefs of obstetrics at NSUH. HTH!

He is one of the top High Risk Dr's in the country and top Dr. In NY voted many yrs in a row and my Dr. ( obgyn) Says he is a genius.
That said. I called for a consult and was told its $400. ( no insurance taken) ..

Re: Dr. Kofinas
I am seeing him through my entire pregnancy.. My first visit was Last Thursday and my next one is the 20th.. I had to pay a 250 deductable and then copay 15 every visit.. Well worth it.. He made me feel that if anything (except genetic issues) is going to go wrong he is going to catch it so far in advance I will never have a problem.. He has a 96% delivery rate.. Dr Braverman from SIRM recommended me to him and said he is "the Guy you want caring for you" Well my DH LOVED him and so do I.. So far I really had a wonderful experience.. With his staff as well.. HTH best of luck!

eta- the follow up visits were $350 bi weekly.
They told me if you have a PPO insurance, they will charge you in office for copays and deductibles but you have to pay the balance insurance doesnt pay as well...and that could be MORE then what they charge if you just pay out of pocket.

Re: Dr. Kofinas
I had a consult with him but he was too expensive to stay with. I ended up with Dr. Goldstein from Modonna. I loved him. I will go back to Modonna when it is time for #2. They followed the same protocol as Dr. Kofinas but they take insurance.

Dr. Goldstein was my primary high risk dr with my son and I loved him. Very proactive and takes no chances.

Re: Dr. Kofinas
I see Dr. Kofinas every 2 weeks. I went through IVF at ECF. When I was released to go back to my ob/gyn, my ob recommended I see Dr. Kofinas as well since I am having twins. I am glad I did. He noticed right away that my placentas were deteriorating and that I have a clotting disorder. I am a teacher with the Empire government plan. They said I had to pay a $350 ded. and then I pay my $18 copay every visit. I am so glad I see him. My doctor gave the choice between him and Madonna but he felt that at MAdonna you don't see the doctors as often and they didn't call him right away if they saw something. There have been many times where I have been at Dr. Kofinas' office and he called my ob to let him know what is going on. He is def. worth going to.
