I don't know anything about Dr. Crider.

Dr. Lewis is eh....but has NO bed side manner.

I usually refer my parents to Dr. Laplaza as LIJ ( i don't have the number right now) but I am not sure if he does "injury" type stuff. I usually recommend him for more developmental type stuff. So I would def ask if you call him.

Hope your DD heals quick!

We saw Lewis last year. DD fractured a bone in her foot and was in a cast for four weeks.
He is stale. You would think someone working with Kids who are hurt and scared (and parents who are freaking out) would be a little more sympathetic. Not that he is rude or mean, he just does his job and is done.
Exactly one week late, DD was running in her cast and fell and fractured her arm!Chat Icon
Lewis wasn't in but his PA (i think) was amazing. Saverio Cianciotta, RPA-C
He was really nice. Explained everything. was great with DD.
Hope that helped.

i saw dr. lewis. i actually didn't think his bedside manner was so terrible though i had been warned by others before i went that he lacks any charisma. my dd HATES doctors and cries the second you even walk into the waiting area of a doctor's office. she was no different there----she was a mess. he just ignored her crying and went on with the exam.

We had a lot of contact with years ago as my DD had clubbed feet and was casted weekly. I agree that you will find his bedside manner leaves much to be desired BUT he worked wonders with my DD. I actually would be surprised if you could get an appointment with him within a week's time.

I hope you have better luck getting an ASAP appointment with an orthopedist than I did recently. Every office I called (that took our insurance) for a fractured ankle said it would be at least a week for an appointment. Luckily we had the splint from the hospital, and just kept it elevated. As it turns out, it's better that way the doctor said, since it gives time for the swelling to go down before a hard cast goes on.

Hope your little one feels better!

Re: Dr. Russell Crider/ ped. orthopedics?

Thanks everyone for your responses and well wishes for my DD. I feel soo bad for her : (

I am wondering if I should just bring her to a regular ortho. dr. that also sees children..there aren't to many ped. ortho drs and mixed reviews on them.

Anyone have any experience bringing their little ones to a reg. ortho??

That is who we see...a regular one that sees children. No issues with him

If you want to drive to Setauket, I can give you the name of a very good pediatric ortho. Unfortunately they don't take our insurance anymore, which is why we didn't go there for the fracture.
