Dream feed
I have read a couple of times on these boards about dream feeding. Can ayone suggest on how to do this? Right now DD goes to bed between 8:30-9 and will wake up between 2-3 then again between 5-6.
TIA

Re: Dream feed
dream feeding as per the baby whisperer is waking them up and feeding about about 10-11ish.
I personally never foung anything from that book to be all that helpful. Nor did the "dream feeding" work for me

Re: Dream feed
My DD used to go to sleep very early (6-6:30 PM) so I would dream feed her before I went to bed instead of having her wake me up right after I fell asleep. Around 9:30'ish I would just go to her crib, pick her up gently, have a dim night light on, sit in the rocker and nurse her. Most of the times she didn't even open her eyes. When she finished feeding, I would just put her right back in the crib and she wouldn't wake me until 3-4AM. It basically gave me little control over her feeding schedule.

Re: Dream feed
I was told never to wake up a sleeping baby. I just want her to sleep a little longer. I think she is waking up between 2-3 just to get up cause she only eats about 2 oz. then goes right back to sleep.

Re: Dream feed
When my daughter was younger she'd do this. She'd go to sleep around 8ish in the swing, and then around 11, I'd carefully pick her up, put a bib on her and give her a bottle. She would stir a little - not very much, and then she'd drink while asleep. When she stopped drinking, I'd carefully change her diaper (loved those sleeping gowns!!) and put her back into the swing carefully, so as not to wake her. It worked great - she never woke up at night becasue she was hungry. Slept through the night for the first time at 6 weeks and has every night since then!

That's the objective of the dream feed....not to wake the baby. I think in all of the times I dream fed, DD "woke up" once.
I don't really know what time you would dream feed anyway. Since DD goes to sleep at 9:30, it's not like you are going to set your alarm clock to dream feed her at 1AM or anything like that.

Re: Dream feed
At 3 months, my DS had a similar schedule. He would wake up at about 3am, go back to sleep after he ate, and then wake up again about 6:30- 7:00. The pediatrician told me to try to get that extra feeding in during the day and when he woke up at 3, not to rush in to get him. The first 2 nights, I went in, picked him up and rocked him without feeding him and he went back to sleep. After that he stopped waking up at 3 am.
She might just be waking up out of habit, not really because she is hungry. I also never did the dream feed, because it just didn't make sense to me if I was getting a good block of sleep from 8:30 or 9:00 to 3am to chance disturbing him at 11 or so. I also figured that it would be easier to eventually drop the 3 am feeding than mess with the 8:30 bedtime and I think I was right (at least for my DS....)
Good luck!
