Drinkers vs Non-Drinkers - repost

Do you not drink (at all) and your spouse does? Or vice versa?

Does it bother you if he's drinking and you're not? Or do you feel guilty about drinking in front of him if he's not?

And I don't just mean, one of you is the designated driver for the night, I mean like the spouse is a recovering alcoholic, or medically cannot drink for whatever reason.

Sorry if this is a little too personal

Re: Drinkers vs Non-Drinkers - repost

We both used to drink regularly. DH does not really anymore, but I still do. I don't get sloppy stupid kind of drunk, so ti does not really affect us. DH prefers to drive & stuff when we go out anyway, so it is not like he is always *stuck* being the DD.

DH and I are both drinkers, but I haven't been able to because I'm pregnant. If DH has a couple of drinks I don't really mind, but I do get resentful when he goes and gets drunk- but I know that a big part of that is me being jealous.
I'm due in 3 weeks though, so soon the tables will turn! Chat Icon

Re: Drinkers vs Non-Drinkers - repost

I drink occasionally, DH doesn't drink at all. It doesn't bother him if I do, but it is not that frequently, and when I do drink, I have a glass of wine with dinner. Once in a while I will have a few more, like at a party or a wedding.

I definitely drink less than before I met him. I think that is partially a function of my social life being different and partly due to my age - I don't bounce back from a night of drinking the way I used to. On the few occasions I have had a few too many, I don't feel guilty, but I feel badly that he has to deal with my crankiness the next morning.

Re: Drinkers vs Non-Drinkers - repost

i drink, DH doesnt. he has never got drunk in his life. at times it is really strange and i do feel uncomfortable. i just feel like a major alkie, when i do get drunk. he always loves to make fun the next morning if i have a hangover, saying he doesnt understand why people drink and waste money to feel awful the next day.

i love that quote, forgot who said it:

i feel sorry for those that do not drink. when they wake up that is the best they will feel all day.

or something like that..

My husband and Ihave been together since our teens so we have grown to be each other'sbest drinking buddies, we alaways drink together, if he doesn't drink I don't and vice versa. We look forward to a few cocktails togeter on the weekends. We are pretty big drinkers, love speciality beers and I love wines, we always have a stocked liquor cabinet.Chat Icon

I rarely drink due to medical reasons.
When DH drinks, it doesn't bother me.
