driving from Suffolk to NYC ???
we've always driven from queens to NYC, piece o cake  (59 st bridge)
whats the easiest route from suffolk?
LIE to midtown tunnel ?

Depends on where you are going. But if you are going to Midtown, then yes.
But if you are going uptown (my parents live at 92nd and York Avenue) the Triboro/RFK Bridge is the best. And you can still take the 59th Street bridge from the LIE!
