*driving from wantagh to far rockaway...
how long would it take? if you had to be at work at 8 15 in the morning, what time would you leave your house?

i used to drive from wantagh to jamaica (st johns) and leaving at 7:30 i would just make it to 9am class. if you're planning on taking the southern state to the belt i'd allow more time. going through long beach might be easier.

You can also take Sunrise and then go the back way down Broadway or Peninsula from Lynbrook. I do this when I need to go to Far Rockaway. It's a lot more lights obviously but at least traffic is flowing. I'd allow at least an hour.

I do similar and take side rds from oceanside to lawrence (rockaway blvd) its 20ish minutes

I would say 6:30 if you take the Southern State and Belt.
There is never any rhyme or reason to traffic in the am heading west on the SS or Belt.
Sometime my trip from Suffolk takes 50 mins, sometimes 1.5 hours.

I live in East Meadow and work in Lawrence (so both are relatively close to your start and end points). To get to work it takes me 30 minutes (Southern State from Exit 25 to Exit 19) then Peninsula Blvd (my job is about 10 miles off the highway).
Coming home in the afternoon is abot 45 minutes.
It's only about a 15 mile drive but takes half an hour to 45 minutes depending on traffic.

What part of Far Rockaway??? DH works on 85 Street and Rockaway Beach Blvd and leaves Franklin Sqaure by 7:00 and gets to work by 8:00. He takes Pennisula down and side roads though Inwood..... I would say you need to leave alot earlier than 7:00
