Driving to Washington, DC
DH and I are going to DC this month. How long's the drive? What's the best route to use? I've tried yahoo maps and mapquest and they keep giving me some bizarre directions. Thanks!

Re: Driving to Washington, DC
Uggggggggggggg this is the worst drive of my life. I have family in DC and in Boston -- I go see the family in Boston even tho I like the family in DC better, lol.
We have taken I-95 - and been stuck forever. Last time we thought we were "smart" and went through PA - only to find one of the 2 lanes shut down - it took us 3 hours to go 10 miles!! And no exits to get off!!
I have vowed that from now on I will fly to DC.
Sorry I am not much help - maybe if you leave in the dead of night...?

Re: Driving to Washington, DC
I live just outside of DC... We live right off 495. You'll probably take I-95 to either 495 or 395 depending on where you're going. Or, you might even go to 295 (I'm not entirely familiar with DC).
Try not to hit the DC area after 330 on weekdays. It's horrendous. Most trips it takes me 5-6 hours (coming from and going to East Setauket). But it's taken me up to 11.
Good luck!

ditto!
We take NJ Turnpike to I-95.
Depending on where you are going, you are probably going to need I-295, 395 or 695 also.
