Drop In Users
I really hate my VentAire standards (the wides are ok, but I hate the standards) and I like the number of bottles we have in rotation, but I want to switch the VentAires out.
Which drop in bottle do you use? How many different kinds are there? And how do you travel with powdered formula and water?
TIA

Re: Drop In Users
With both kids we used the Playtex drop ins. We tried the Target brand of liners with Sarah, but they were stiffer than the playtex ones, so they didn't collapse while she ate so she took in more air and was really gassy and uncomfortable. So we stuck with the Playtex pre-formed liners. I found them cheapest at BRU, plus they come with a free bottle.
ETA: We pre measure the powder into them and bring a bottle of Poland Spring water in the diaper bag to mix it up when we are out. When we were on RTF we either carried the small cans or put a premade bottle in a small cooler bag we have.

That is the one I have now. My mom swears she used this with us, so she came over with the 50 liners and free bottle.

Re: Drop In Users
I use drop in's. I believe they make the 2 different kinds of bottles. One is fancy with curves (premium), one is just sort of stiff and straight. They both hold the same liners and nipples though. I have 8 4oz and 8 8oz bottles and TONs of nipples. I was buying the preformed liners, but those take up so much room and are more expensive than the fllat ones, so I just use flat now.
I bought a 3 compartment formula dispenser that the powder goes in and just add the formula to a bottle with water already in it when we go out. Warning though, don't get the Sassy brand because the formula leaks into the other compartments. I bought the Walmart one and it's been great.

We have a lot since we get the free one every time. It still works out cheaper than getting them not packaged with the bottle. So I have enough to last 2 days, so that I can load up the dirty ones with the rest of our dishes and run them through the dishwasher every night. Then I premeasure the formula in the ones for the next day, leave them on the counter next to a big bottle of water and make them as I need them.

Re: Drop In Users
Oh, and I wanted to add..the measurements on the liners are not very accurate, so you really should use a measuring cup for the water.

I second this statement!
We have been using the drop ins since the beginning. We did receive some Ventaire sample bottles and used those nipples with the dropins interchangably. We use the target brand liners - never had any problems with gas to begin with, so I don't know if they would have had a negative effect. As far as the formula goes, we bought a package that had two individual containers, which I like since my diaper bag has a bottle holder on each end so I drop in the formula holder first and put the bottle on top of it - it makes it so much easier to find if we are out.
Also, the nipples for the bottles fit perfectly in these: pacifier case
Which makes it super easy if you will be out for a long time - then you only have to bring one bottle and extra liners.

That case is a really good idea! Now do you use the same ring and cap and just put the nipples in that holder?

Re: Drop In Users
That is exactly what I do - I just try to rinse them off first, but the formula doesn't really come into contact with them anyway. I keep a stash of liners in a ziplock in the diaper bag.

Re: Drop In Users
We just started using the Platex drop ins and I love it. Going from Dr. Browns to those makes my life SOOOOOOOO much easier!
