Dr's Appt Update
Well we just got back from the RE and he thinks we can start IVF in February I'm so excited, nervous and scared this is moving so fast. He wants me to go for the saline hystosonogram (sp) ASAP to make sure I have no polyps or fibroids in my uterus before we start IVF. Has anyone did this? The dr said it's usually less uncomfortable than the HSG. He also said he will put me on a low dosage of Lupron and the monitoring won't be that time consuming. The whole process from start to finish is one month. I can't believe this is moving so fast. DH & I have decided not to tell anyone except my mom who is our cheerleader....she is so excited and of course you girls who are so supportive and informative. I must say initially we were debating whether or not to go with Columbia and had even scheduled appts to check out RMA and Cornell but I'm really glad we chose Columbia. We are using Dr. Tortoriello and he is great. He took the time to answer all our questions in detail and we didn't feel rushed at all. Everyone in the office was very nice including the billing person who seemed very familiar with the process for our healthcare (United). Right now it's still hitting me. I must admit that when we first found out that conceiving naturally would be very slim I was very opposed to the whole prospect of IVF because of all the needles and everything else that comes along with it but now I'm so excited. Thanks for listening.
ETA: I have a question...which is the best and cheapest pharmacy to buy the meds from?

Good Luck on your new adventure! It is really not that bad of a process! I was very nervous at first, but this time around I am less nervous!
You may want to check out Freedom Pharmacy. Their prices were pretty reasonable.

Re: Dr's Appt Update
Wonderful News!!! How Exciting!
My saline sonogram was painful for me but a lot of the women on this board experienced minimal pain. Lucky me! But, it happens so quickly that before you know it....you're done!
Good Luck!

Re: Dr's Appt Update
Great to be moving forward, isn't it? I saw a Dr. at Columbia - I can't remember his name but he was a real hottie!! (Lucky me - my OB is cute, my dentist is very hot, let's hope some of it rubs off on baby!!). Giansomething I think...
I got my meds from Rockville Centre Pharmacy - they even met me at Starbucks at 10:30 pm with my trigger shot, in the rain!
There are some websites someone else has listed, and you can ask for donations here too! I got a lot of my meds from some of the ladies here on LIF, which was great since my insurance didn't cover ANYThing...!

Re: Dr's Appt Update
Good luck! That is good news. I had the sono 2 weeks ago, it wasn't too bad, it felt a bit odd, but I had put my back out the day before so I was in so much pain from that I couldn't really tell what hurt! It is exciting isn't it? I about to start my first IVF too!

Re: Dr's Appt Update
Thanks to all of you girls for your advice. Thank God my job started covering IF treatments this year and I also contributed $4K to my FSA account this year specifically for med's. If I have any left over after my cycle I will be more than willing to give it to someone on here who is not covered.

Re: Dr's Appt Update
good luck to you. The water sonogram was pretty quick and easy. I had a little Af type cramping afterwards but taking tylenol or something of that nature helped.
good luck- you are on your way

First of all my girlfriend got PG on her first IVF with Cornell! She was very impressed with them/ Also the other day I posted something on Freedom giving you meds for free at certain points in yoru treatment so you may want to search for it!
ETA I just bumped my post title free IVF meds some restrictions

Re: Dr's Appt Update
Well I went for the water sonogram today and the RE could not complete it. He said I was too tense He already got it in there and I felt the cramping but I guess he didn't see everything he wanted to. It was another RE not mines since my regular RE was out of the office today. I am so frustrated because I took time out from work but this RE gave me a prescription for adavar (Sp) to relax me and I am scheduled to go next Friday again! I also didn't know I would be awake for the FET....the RE mentioned this and he said it's a good thing he found out have anxious and tense I get because I would have to take the adavar (sp) for the FET to relax me. Oh well....I guess I'll have to wait until next week. Thanks everyone for the advise good wishes. You ladies are the best!
