Drunk Boston woman on train tracks narrowly cheats death [video]

Conductor stops on a dime when woman falls on tracks
An apparently blind-drunk Boston woman was nearly killed after she stumbled onto a train track -- but a quick-thinking conductor was able to pull to a stop with just inches to spare.
MBTA Orange Line operator Charice Lewis was hailed as a hero yesterday after she spotted fellow passengers frantically flailing their arms on the platform of the North Station Friday night, the Boston Globe reported today.
Dramatic surveillance video shows the woman stamp out a cigarette, stumble and then topple onto the tracks below, where the train nearly crushed her as it pulled into the station. see more videos
“It was so close, I thought it was not good,’’ Lewis, a 27-year-old train operator, told the paper. The woman was not harmed, but she told police she had been drinking for several hours before the near-miss.
Lewis and a MBTA employee who called her from the platform, Jacqueline Osorio, have been called heroes. Both were recognized by state Transportation Secretary Jeffrey Mullan on Monday and received a call of congratulations from Gov. Deval Patrick.

I'm sorta surprised that she didn't get electrocuted after narrowly missing getting run over. I'm thinking those must not be electric trains?

She didn't hit the third rail. It was on Fox5 news last night. The engineer was driving slow into the station anyway due to the fact that a game had just let out and she knew there was going to be a lot of people around.

OMG...did you see that first man on the platform flailing his arms? If that train was coming full force, he would have been killed too trying to save the lady.

Something doesn't seem right. She was able to get up so quickly and easily after the train stopped but couldn't lift her body up at all before then.

Re: Drunk Boston woman on train tracks narrowly cheats death [video]
Wow. I think she was just stunned and maybe even blacked out momentarily after she fell. who knows... i mean she was pretty freakin drunk. Maybe she saw the train coming and froze on the tracks. then when it stopped and she didn't get hit, that was enough to shock her back into being able to attempt to stand up.
to the driver and those guys waving their arms to stop the train. That stupid stupid woman should be thankful that those people weren't as drunk as she was, and that the driver was paying attention!
