DS (5 weeks) has been awake for almost 12 hours! This can't be normal.
The kid didn't nap all day. What a huge change from sleeping 20 out of 24 hours a day.
Is this normal?
I know he is discovering the world but he seems so much more fussy. He did sleep for like 5 minute intervals but he'll wake himself up by kicking or waving his arms.

Some days they're awake all day, some days they sleep all day. Don't worry. DS still barely naps during the day at 10 weeks. Try swaddling him so the kicking and arm waving doesnt' startle him awake.

i was going to suggest swaddling as well.
Sasha is a cat napper-- somedays she'll only sleep for like 20 or 30 mins at a clip, though other days-- she'll take a 1 or 2 hour nap. There is just no consistency at that age.

I'm having the same issues with DS who is just about 5 weeks. He may fall asleep during the day for 20 minute intervals but he is very fussy!! He does seem to be sleeping longer overnight though so i am not complaining!!

Last night we slept so well. DS didn't cry at all. At around 4am, I woke up and saw that DS was awake (happy and not crying) so I fed him and he went back to sleep.
Since DS was up ALL day, I'm assuming he's exhausted and that we will have another great night of sleep.

DS does that all the time from about 1 month on (10 weeks now). He will cat nap throughout the day and sometimes sleep a little more if we are out and about.
It's totally normal.
