DS got stung by wasps!

We were by my parent's pool and DS bumped into a chair. All of a sudden there was a swarm of wasps stinging him Chat Icon . He only cried for a few seconds, but he was bleeding and a little swollen where he was stung. I called our pediatricians and one said to go to the hospital, the other said to just keep a close eye on him. He seems fine, but I'm so worried. My poor boy Chat Icon

What should I do, I kind of want to go in but I feel like I'm overreacting.

I would of went to the hospital if he got stung all over, but if it was just one bite I would watch him to make sure he has no reactions to it.

He has about 5 sting marks on his arm. I think I want to take him but he doesn't seem phased by it at all, so I don't know.

Are they swelling up? If he isn't really having a reaction, the I would probably just keep an eye on it. Maybe dab some benadryl on them.

If he isn't having any reaction - which he would by now - I wouldn't worry about it. He obviously isn't allergic to it.

I'd be concerned with multiple stings-I would take him to my ped tomorrow am.

Re: DS got stung by wasps!

So did Ava. I was pushing her on her swingset and they swarmed her. She got stung in 3 places. It was horrible. I was hysterical...

I called the Ped and the Allergist. She did fine with Benadryl and they didn't seem to itch her. My Mom got 1 sting the next day and her sting is very red, swollen and itchy.

My husband and neighbor found the nest under the glider on the swing set. They sprayed it with something called Buzz Saw. It sat overnight, and Dh removed the nest today.

Try to find the nest and remove it asap. It is sooo scary!!

If he seems to be ok and the bites aren't getting bigger, then I'm sure he's fine! For some peace of mind, take him to the Dr tomorrow just to make sure everything is ok!Chat Icon

I agree but I would watch him very carefully tonight. 5 stings is a lot for a little body to take.Chat Icon
