DS in in a wedding this summer and the Bridal party will be in a trolley.
DS will be the ring bearer in a bridal party for DH's cousin this summer. He will be 3. The bride and groom booked a trolley. They asked the company about the 3 children in the wedding party (ages 8, 3.5 and DS). The company said there are no seatbelts and there would be no place to out strap a carseat or booster. I told them that I would not send DS in the trolley, even if my DH was on the trolley. I would drive him to the church and then to the reception. A little more inconvenient for me, but whatever, it's their wedding. So I have to go out of my way for the day but I would rather that than take the risk for DS. I don't know about the other 2 girls because both parents are in the bridal party. I'm curious to see what they do. I wanted to hear others' thoughts and opinions. ETA - I am totally fine with their decision, they are fine with mine as well. Tthey are a great couple and I love them both. (I introduced them.)

When we were on vacation in Bermuda we took an open air trolly. It did not have seat belts. DH held DD on his lap. I had DS who is 3 seated next to me. I held his arm. It was fine. They went 5 mph. I think it would depend upon how fast and far they were going. Are they on local roads going slowly or on a highway? I would be ok with it if it was local roads and they were going less than 10 mph.

DS was just in a wedding when he was 2. He went in the limo, no carseat. I put him all the way in the front, and he sat backwards, with a seatbelt on.
The bride had no problem if I wanted to drive DS to each place. At the last minute, I decided to have him in the car with me. I'm sure the bride will have no problem with you driving your DC and not going in the trolley.

Defitinely a highway involved, traveling over 30 minutes. If it were only a few minutes on a few roads, I probably would have been ok.

I already told her and it's not a problem. If it were, than I would think that was weird. But we have a good relationship, so it's not an issue, just curious to see if other's thought similiarly.

I don't think a trolley would go fast enough to be allowed on a highway... that being said, that sounds like a long way to travel in an open air trolley with no seat belts and I don't think I'd be okay with it either

A highway?!?!? I would not be ok with that. Frankly, I would not want to go on a highway in a trolly. I don't think that is safe.

It depends on your comfort level.
I was in a trolley for a bridal party and it went realllly slow.
I think about how I just took my sons to disney and the amount of times they were on a bus to and from parks or on trains/trolleys at times, no seatbelts and just on someones lap. So I would allow my child on the trolley. But only you can decide how comfortable you are with that!

Well it's definitely a trolley but maybe it's not open air. I can't imagine them not getting on the highway to travel from Queens to New Rochelle! I guess I could have said that from the beginning!

Re: DS in in a wedding this summer and the Bridal party will be in a trolley.
We are in my SIL's wedding this June. I am the MOH, DH is a GM and DD will be the flower girl. She will be 26 months at the wedding. I will be driving DD to the church, to pictures , and to the hall. This is what I feel comfortable doing. My SIL was totally understanding and just felt bad for me not being in the limo. I really don't care about the limo. I could put the carsear in the limo. But I really don't want to remove it from my car.
speaking for myself, I wouldn't allow my DD in the trolley if there were no seatbelts or carseats. Even if the trolley was going slow, you never know if some other driver was to come speeding down the road and hit the trolley.

Re: DS in in a wedding this summer and the Bridal party will be in a trolley.
My flower girl and ring bearer were not in the limo for my wedding. My DD was the flower girl at my sisters wedding - she was not in the limo (I was in the limo, DH drove her).
I think its just easier & safer for the kids to go separately. And as the parent, I do think its our responsibility to arrange transportation for our children, not the brides.

I agree w/ what you're doing. 30 miles on the highway is just too far. If it was only a few miles, going slow, then I'd consider it.

Since it is so far I would drive him myself. That would make me too nervous.

Re: DS in in a wedding this summer and the Bridal party will be in a trolley.
We went to Hershey this past summer, and took a trolley ride throught the town to see it. DD was 2 1/2 and unrestrained the entire ride. AND we sat in the front seat, so if anything had happened, she would not have even had the seat in front of her to stop her movement.
