DS suddenly started rejecting the bottle. I don't know what to do.
We have been mixing nursing and bottlefeeding from the very beginning. I was worried about nipple confusion but at 7 weeks, he is rejecting the bottle altogether, not my boob. DH and I both used to bottle feed him. Now DS will only eat if I am nursing him. I don't know what to do.
I still have 2 months left on maternity leave but was hoping to add more bottles to get him accustomed to bottles most of the time but the opposite seems to be happening.
Did this happen to anyone else?
Should I switch bottle brands?

Re: DS suddenly started rejecting the bottle. I don't know what to do.
I dont have any personal experience with this ( my DS didnt latch so we pumped and with DD I didnt stick with it)
My SIL had a similar issue with her DS though...It seemed with him, not that he had a preferance neccessarily with the nipple, more so the comfort feeling...
Maybe try bottle feeding (or DH) with skin to skin contact ?? Maybe thats what he is attached to...and then as he gets more accustomed to it, stop the skin contact some (because if someone else will be caring for him, taking off their shirt probably won't fly )
Maybe that would work ?? Good Luck

We will definitely try the skin to skin! Sometimes DS will lay on DH's chest and tries to suck on DH. It's hilarious. We'll just offer the bottle next time. Thanks for the tip.

Re: DS suddenly started rejecting the bottle. I don't know what to do.
Is he rejecting the bottle from both of you? If you're BFing, I wouldn't give him bottles. Only have DH give them to him and make sure you're not in the room when DH gives DS the bottle.
If you're using refrigerated BM, are you warming the BM enough?
What bottles are you using? Are you using a slow flow nipple?
It's good for him to get used to the bottles, but I'd try to have a good balance between bottles and BFing simply b/c I wouldn't want him to get so used to the bottle that he starts rejecting the breast.

He was taking the bottle from both of us just fine since the very beginning.
Recently only DH has been offering the bottle to DS and that is when he rejects it. Then I'll try offering DS the bottle and he rejects it as well. Then I'll offer him the boob and he'lll eat.
I think we will try offering the bottle when I am not present in the room. DS can probably see and hear me.

You could be the distraction... as you said, try to not be in the same room when your DH feeds the baby.
I'm no longer BFing, but I am too much of a distraction to DD and if I'm in the room when someone else is feeding her, she will not take the bottle from that person and has hysterical crying fits.
