Dsi Questions
Buying one for my son's 6th birthday. Decided on Dsi -not XL or Lite. Now what accessories are necessary and which are nice to have?
Which games are good for a 6yr old boy? He is big into Star Wars so I figure that one. He likes superheroes but seems to be growing out of that as his love fr star wars grows. He likes Mario Kart of the wii. He likes facebook and ipod (bubble popping) type games, taking care of cities, towns, animals, etc.

Re: Dsi Questions
I would get the armor for it. Keeps it from breaking if they drop it....
Also buy an extra pack of pens (Stylus) for yourself. You dont need to buy the ones that are put out by them. You can get a pack from another manufacturer for less money..
A car charger can come in handy...
My son loves the SpongeBob Game "Truth or Square" and the "Phineas and Ferb" games (there are 2 of them I believe and he plays them all the time)...

Re: Dsi Questions
DS is 7.5, and I got him a DSi for Christmas. I got a package deal, so we got some accessories. I have to buy different headphones, since the ones that came with it are the ones you shove in your ear canal, which don't work for him. I definitely want to get him headphones so I don't have to listen to it all the time.... The car charger is a great accessory. Definitely some type of case and/or cover.
DS loves his Pokemon game. That's by far his favorite so far.

Yes, you MUST get this!!!! It's Nerf Armor - soft foam with an inner hard shell. Trust me, you want this. It's the only one that will really protect the DS if they drop it. Nerf seems to be the only one out there like this so far - why others like Nintendo themselves have not made them is odd bc it's a lifesaver. Once the hinge on the left side gets broken (where the wires connect the bottom screen to the top), it's in sorry shape and needs repair, replacement or tossed in the garbage.
Also, if you are shopping at Toys R Us or Target, get the extended warranty. But I recommend Target bc their extended warranty on electronics is 24 mths, TRU is only 18 mths and the Target one is less money.

ETA: DS likes the Sims games, an older one called Zoo Tycoon, Drawn to Life, Marker Man, Thrillville. His faves are Scribblenauts & now Super Scribblenauts but they may be too advanced for K.
Also - if you buy used games at Game Stop, you have 5 days to return them if he doesn't like the game. They have plenty of newer titles too

Re: Dsi Questions
My kids love the LEGO games: LEGO Star Wars, LEGO Batman, etc.
Also: Super Mario Brothers My Amusement Park Rabids Go Home
There are more that they like but I'm drawing a blank. Sorry!

Nerf armor is around $15. Target warranty is around $10. I think a DSi is around $160

Re: Dsi Questions
Dumb question - I keep hearing about Nerf Armor and sounds great esp if my 3 yr old gets a hold of my sons Dsi. Is it an actual carring case or just something that goes around to protect it? I haven't researched it.
If just protection, what kind of case fits the DSi when it is all dressed in it armor and how many cartridges can you tote along with you in that case?

Re: Dsi Questions
It's goes around the DS itself. It's not meant to be put on and taken off. It adds a little bulk to the DS but not a lot. DD has one and it still fits in her case that holds the DS which has a zipper compartment for a bunch of cartridges. Not only for if little bro gets ahold of the DS bc if he gets it and manhandles it, it can still break, ie incessantly opening and closing the DS until it snaps (like a younger kid who doesn't realize might do) but if DS #1 accidentally drops it, whocan happen at any age, even with a kid who takes care of stuff, it will protect it. I can't vouch for someone slamming it on the ground at full force but I think the Nerf armor is the first accessory to get
