DS's best therapist quit.
Ugh. What an awful day.
Today was the last day of the first summer session (we have 3 weeks on, a week off and another 3 week session after that).
DS's best therapist told me today that he won't be returning for his 2nd session. He's been with DS for just over a year and he's been THE reason DS has been doing so well in school. DS responds to this guy better than anyone else. I know that he's moving on to another position at a different school and it will be a good move for him professionally (he'll be a lead ABA teacher there) but I'm distraught for DS. He really, REALLY loves this guy.
This is the sucky part of school - when someone who is really wonderful for your child leaves.

I feel for you. My DD is aging out of EI after the summer and I'm dying with the thought of losing all her therapists! She has just started making some real strides and now I'm afraid it is going to slow down.
For you it really stinks for your DS to have literally no time to get used to the idea.

It really does suck. Both of DS's therapists are not returning in the fall. I think it's going to be harder on me than it will be for him though.

Re: DS's best therapist quit.
I can relate. DD is aging out and the week of Aug. 20th is going to suck around here. We have to say goodbye to say many amazing women who have been with us since day 1. I get sick even thinking about it.
DS is officially done with pre-k (he's in the summer program) on the 10th. Again, we are truly saying goodbye.
So hard!

Re: DS's best therapist quit.
It's so hard when you have someone great and it's there time to go. From past experience I've had some great home teachers and you know what's even crappier is that they say that they'll be in touch and visit, you think that your kid was somewhat special, and then over time they never stay in contact. My son has had this happened over the years and I think it sucks. I'm glad he doesn't know any different but just throwing it out there so you know if it happens your not alone.

This is what i'm afraid of. I wrote him a really heartfelt e-mail, wishing him the best and thanking him for really changing our lives.. Took me an hour to write it. It's been 5 days and no response. I know this happens all the time. It just stinks that I always think that DS will always have a 'friend' and he gets forgotten about as soon as they leave.
