Re: dual language mommies
I have read that wither you should teach them both at once like Baby, this is a table or la mesa. OR have one parent speak Spanish and one speak English. I would love to teach my future children two languages but I only know restaurant Spanish(as you can see from my example-ask me napkin, fork I know em, anything else not so much)

Re: dual language mommies
The best thing to do is to have one parent speak in English, the other in Spanish (or whatever the second language will be)
You could also have grandparents speak in their native language if neither parent is fluent

It's important not to confuse the child, which could seriouslly hamper it's speech/ language functioning. If the child starts to speak in sentences that are in English and Spanish you should switch to all English.

Re: dual language mommies
I was also taught Spanish first. My grandmother who cares for my son all day, only speaks to him in Spanish. My mom, dad and grandpa only speak to him in Spanish too. I speak to him in both English and Spanish. Dh in English and Greek. DH's parents speak to him in mostly Greek. He's going to be one consfused kid But we would really want him to learn both Spanish and Greek.

This is what I've heard as well. I have two friends teaching their kids to be bilingual, and they've done a bit of research on this. The moms only speak the other language (Mandarin and German, in their cases) and the dads only speak English. Apparently, language confusion is not an issue at all. The grandparents help reinforce each language too.
